iPad School - Monte Vista Christian
Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, California has been a Focus/SIS client for three years. The school is known for being on the forefront of scholastic technology. Monte Vista’s latest project is a one-to-one initiative using Apple’s iPad for school. Monte Vista Christian School has been awash with iPads - the count is now over 300 and growing in preparation for the launch, where every student will have an iPad in school.
Using Focus/SIS, students access grades and announcements through their student accounts. In addition, using the Focus/SIS integration with Moodle, students are using iPads in school to access class material, assignments, and other media that is specific to every teacher’s class.
The work-flow has been surprisingly effective in these early stages of iPad school integration: students come into a classroom, turn on an iPad, and access the period’s work through their student accounts. All course material for every student is accessible via the iPad, and student assignments can be submitted digitally, as well. Good-bye pencils and paper!
Focus/SIS on iPad for schools works the same for teachers, too! Mobile teachers who teach in multiple rooms no longer have to log on to several different computers throughout the day in order to take attendance. Teachers can simply take out their iPads, go to our website, and take attendance, regardless of where they are on the campus.
