Focus/SIS provides a web-based portal for all users to access relevant information. The school parent portal is not a separate component of Focus/SIS, but rather is built in to the program. The parent portal software seamlessly displays real-time information to parents about their child. Security features ensure the safeguarding of sensitive information, as well as compliance with privacy regulations. At the same time, the Focus/SIS parent web portal provides one of the most efficient messaging systems currently available, offering instantaneous updating of all posted information, notifications, and warnings across the system.
There are several ways in which Focus/SIS district clients have used the flexibility of the program to make life easier for teachers, administrators and any other user that has regular access to Focus/SIS. Pinellas County School rebranded Focus/SIS and it is referred to as the “Pinellas Portal” among Focus/SIS users in the district. Pinellas further customized the program by adding Employee Self-Service functions and other applications to the Focus/SIS interface.
The parent portal software displays information for all children of that parent with a single log-in. Parents can view attendance, grading, discipline, and schedule information for their children. Parents also receive updates to the school calendar, any alerts relating to that school or to their child, and any communications from the teacher or administration. Parents can also contact the teachers via the student parent portal. The Focus/SIS parent portal can be displayed in multiple languages. In fact, parents can select which language the portal uses. In addition, report cards, letters and other correspondence can also be printed in multiple languages.
