Student discipline software from Focus/SIS offers everything from an online school discipline form to reports that merge student discipline records with demographic, attendance, special education and assessment information.  Focus/SIS provides a single source for educators to manage discipline data for a single student or group of students.

School Discipline Report

  • CUSTOMIZABLE SCHOOL DISCIPLINE REPORT - If a district wants to track discipline information that is not required for reporting purposes, the Focus/SIS discipline form can be customized by the district to capture that information. There is no limit to the type or amount of data that can be captured in a referral form. Referral forms can also be created such that disposition fields are only available to specific user roles. Thus, a discipline referral form is routed from the teacher to the appropriate administrator that applies the correct disposition.

  • IMMEDIATE UPDATES - Any time a school discipline report is added or modified the district can use built-in workflow triggers to engender a specific action within Focus/SIS. For example, if a discipline referral is created for a student with a last name of “Jenkins,” then the referral will be routed to the assistant principal that works with students whose last names begin with A-M. A district-level administrator can be automatically notified any time a discipline referral is created that involves a gun. Or, a parent can be notified any time the disposition code is changed via email, text notification, portal alert and/or postal mail.

  • GRAPHICAL DISPLAY OF ALL DISCIPLINE INFORMATION - Any and all school discipline software information can be displayed in graphical formats. The summary information can be sorted by multiple factors and can be limited to a specific date range. In the example below, the location of offenses from August 9, 2010 to January 31, 2011 is sorted by gender. Clicking on the gray or blue bars lists the referrals that comprise the total.

  • CONSOLIDATE REFERRALS AS A SINGLE INCIDENT - Some states require multiple discipline report forms to be grouped together as a single incident under specific circumstances. Focus/SIS supports incident reporting with the same flexibility that the system offers with referral forms. The district will receive state mandated fields with Focus/SIS but can expand on those fields and add new ones for incident tracking.

  • EASY REPORTS TO DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE JUSTICE - As a web-based program that makes all information about a student available in real-time, Focus/SIS allows the district representative to meet DJJ reporting requirements. Using only a computer the district representative can generate relevant information in just a few clicks. This information can easily be exported to Excel, Word, PDF or other programs should the court or agency require an electronic record.

  • MERGE DISCIPLINE DATA WITH OTHER INFORMATION FOR RTI INITIATIVES - Since Focus/SIS is a completely integrated student information system, educators can merge all kinds of different information. Nowhere is this more useful than in the Focus/SIS Response to Intervention (RtI) module. Educators can analyze assessment, gradebook, attendance and student discipline report data to determine the efficacy of interventions for individual students or a group of students (including AYP subgroups).

When describing Focus to another district, I tell them that it is user-friendly, very intuitive and that the company is always adding functions that meet teachers needs.

We are happy to use Focus/SIS.  As a new school, we were nervous about choosing a student information system.  Focus/SIS has been a great choice.  The responsiveness of the Focus team, trainings, troubleshooting and assistance has made using our SIS a breeze.

The parent portal has been a huge success in getting parents involved in their child/children's education. Parents are very pleased with the ease of the program and ability to view all their children with one logon.
